I have always been big on family rituals. I think its a fun way to bring up kids. And when Busy Season comes around I think its even more important to make the most of our little time with Dad. So we do Saturday morning pancakes and cartoons before he goes to work and now have added Friday night movie night. This was a ritual for us when we were kid free, but now are going to make it a family event. True, most toddler friendly movies are not something we are excited to see, but I'm hoping its a tradition we will continue as the kids get older. Because what teenager wouldn't want to stay home on a Friday night and watch a movie with their parents? Well I've got a few years in between now and then to make it happen. So Movie Night has begun. You know you are a parent when you go from watching movies with your favorite actors to choosing movies because your favorite actors do a voice in it. Last night's movie was Curious George. I give it a C+. The plus is it had Will Farrell as a character's voice and Jack Johnson did all the music. The negatives were the story was too complex for a toddler, not at all like the cartoon. And bored toddlers means noone will be watching the movie.
Max and Auntie, calm and ready for the movie.
Overall, movie not so great. Movie night, really great. Recommend it for all of you looking for a good toddler-date night. Feel free to serve juice in wine glasses if you really want live it up.
4 notes:
We can recommend Madagascar too.... One of us laughed hard enough for milk to come out of his... ummm their nose..
Oh, Jess, I cannot compete. You are the best mom. Can we come over for movie night?? :)
Jenn, so wish we were still neighbors so we could do this every weekend. If you ever want to makr the trip down, we would love to have you!
