Day at the Beach

We headed to the beach with grandma and grandpa earlier this week and the weather was perfect. With school not out yet it was still pretty empty, which I loved. This was my favorite place to go last summer because I could sit on the beach, watch the boys throw rocks in the water, and do nothing. On this day, I wobbled down towards the water balancing Max, a beach umbrella to keep Max under, a 2 year old in mid-tantrum and expensive shovels I purchased for the boys that never got played with. Hmm...I have since changed my favorite place this summer to my backyard. Looking back at my first post on this blog we were at this same beach and its pretty comical to me to see how much has changed. I remember then my biggest worry was covering them with anti-bacterial wipes after they picked up a random stick. And now, as they are playing with beach crabs and completely covered in dirt, I just count it a good day if I don't discover any of it in their mouths. But some things never change. Their love of throwing rocks in the water, their desire to build, dig, and play in the sand for hours. And for that, I promise to be the official carrier of everything under the sun for another summer at the beach.

No they are not twins and yes they are in matching outfits every single day. My sister and I were conjoined twins that share a brain. That is the only explanation I have for this.

Max was perfectly happy under the umbrella.

With his mama. Who by the way will not be wearing hats anymore after struggling for 15 minutes to put up the umbrella in the wind before a woman came running up behind saying "Sir, do you need any help?" Umm, apparently I do need help.

Gone are the days where discovering seaweed is exciting. Here they are with a crab. "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails" is their new mantra.

Looking longingly and wishfully at each boat passing by (okay that was me, not them).

My reason for coming to the beach. Just too darn cute. Will do anything to make this boy's day.
