First Day Pre-K (3's)

Last week was your first day of 3 year old Preschool. Night and day from the teary drop off of last year. Should have known its changed when we went to the open house and you zoomed around playing with your friends while I stood along the wall with the other parents feeling like a chaperone. What I want to remember from your first week...
* You deciding you didn't need to bring a comfort item with you this year. Not Mr. Bear, Fluffy Bear, Orange Bear, or anyone else from the Bear Family that live in your bed.
* Me having to ask for a hug goodbye where last year I got asked for at least 10. This year it was a quick hug and half of a high-five, see-ya-later mom. I forsee drop me off at the corner before you drive up to my school in my near future with you.
* Me picking you up and you being really excited because you made me a present. We were at the car and you were tearing apart your backpack trying to find it, tossing your extra clothes and underwear into oncoming traffic. And the look of disappointment on your face when you saw it wasn't in there (it was probably still drying in the classroom.) That made my heart explode and easily made up for the don't wave to me in front of my friends vibe I was picking up on at drop off. Love you for that moment.
* And lastly, you and your cousin Mason telling me that this time, before you got to play in the big room, you had to sit down and listen to the rules. "What were they"? I asked. Silence. (Insert crickets chirping here). There's always next week.

awww. I can't imagine what this is going to be like - sending the little one off to school... THanks for sharing the reality. And the next post of little MAx in the window - too funny!
