If you've been wondering why I haven't been posting about Push-Ups and Popsicles and all other sugary summer delights, its because Max has been put on the do not serve sweets list effective immediately. And since that is 99 percent of our diet, or so it seems this summer, its been a rough transition. Max has GERD and its existance has given rise to many other other 4 letter words lately. Except of course SLEEP. Max's reflux has been controlled for the most part by Prevacid. And then one day it just stopped working. His Dr. tried increasing it to twice a day, adding Maalox every 4 hours (which leads to explosive BM's....insert 4 letter world here) tums before bed, etc, etc, etc. Nothings worked. Our soundly sleeping angel is on vacation. I've tried taking away naps and to no avail, he can not fall asleep until the point of exhaustion, usually well after 10 PM. We try and put him down before that and he arches and screams in discomfort. He had an Upper GI last week and it showed severe reflux well through the esophagus. He goes to see a specialist next week and I think I'll bring my sleeping bag, ya know, in case it comes to I'm camping out in your office until you take this little guys pain away. Sleeping bags, sleeping, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Anyways, come see Max during the day and he is still the happiest, sweetest little guy you've ever known. And Noah's been such a trooper. Going to bed at a normal kid's time, sometimes coming out at night to pee and just saying "Oh hey" in passing when he finds mom, dad, and Max camped out on the couch watching cartoons at 10 pm. So there hasn't been a whole lot of blogging, or sleeping, or sugar lately but hopefully its just a temporary hiatus, and we'll have an answer for all of Max's tummy troubles soon. Unless you see me in the Seattle Times, Crazy Lady Refused to Leave Dr's Office then you know we're on the right path.
2 notes:
I hope the Dr. can figure something out for him to make the pain go away. He's so strong, must get it from his parents :) I have been thinking a lot about him and even more next week :) Love you guys!!
So sorry to hear about little Max and his tummy troubles :( Wishing a speedy recovery and lots of peaceful nights in the future!
