Luke, Day 5.

IMG_0503
A good night & a good day. We were at the hospital late last night. Luke had a really great nurse. Right away we both got to hold him. Luke is definitely a night owl. More awake and alert at night. And {happy day!} we got to see him open his sweet little eyes. It was dark in the room but we think they might be blue.
Overnight his nurse was able to get his O2 on the CPAP down from 30 to 23. Amazing improvement. And this morning we had another wonderful nurse who had the CPAP set at 21-23. The significance of this is that 21 is the level of room air so its a big step towards getting the CPAP removed.
The Dr told us this morning his next goal is to reduce the pressure on the CPAP. Its been set at 7, the maximum. Today he bumped him down to 6. 4 is the magical number he needs to get to while keeping his sats and blood gases at good levels. So Luke is moving in the right direction.
His bili level was up today so he had a bili blanket on to treat it. They continue to increase his feedings and he has been tolerating this well.
So now Geno and I are back at home where I am elevating my ridiculously swollen feet and grandma is making brownies downstairs with Noah.
A good day for our family and an especially good day for Luke. I am a thankful mama.
