splash park.

Now that swim lessons are over for the summer our days have completely opened up.
Noah starts full day kindergarten in 2 weeks (!)
and every time I see the date circled red on the calendar
I have heart palpitations.
He is excited. Really excited.
Especially at the thought of eating lunch with his best friends every day.
It's his mom that is sad. I'm just not ready for him to be gone all day.
So we have these last 2 weeks
and we are spending them  checking off the last few things on our summer bucket list.

Yesterday was the splash park.

It was hot. The pavement burned their feet and there were kids packed into every inch.
But they didn't seem to mind at all.
They loved this day.

Max saw some other little kids with buckets and cups they were filling in the fountains
and instantly wanted one himself.
I went to search my car (which normally carries enough random items to live off of for months)
and found their milkshake cups from the pool the night before (score!)
turned upside down and draining all over the seats (uck).
And I'm sure it smells lovely in there today.
But Max got his cup
and so he was happy.

I love this picture. It captures it all perfectly.

If I had to title this next picture, it would be called Longing.

Never one to sit on the sidelines, little brother crossed the barrier from where he was playing in the grass and stood on the splash pad for a moment.

And then in the next beat
he took off for the sprinklers!
Brave little mister.

Geno calls him little frankenstein because of how he moves now that he is just starting to walk.
And that was just how he looked as he slowly, slowly hobbled his way to the water.

He was over the moon happy once he made it.

And big brother was there to guide him back when he got in a little too deep.

Never would have predicted that the splash park would have brought
the biggest smile to the littlest one of the three.

The day was complete with sticky popsicles on grandma's deck
and three boys fighting not to fall asleep on the car ride home.
Always a sign of a good day.

Sounds like so much fun! I need to start making a summer bucket list. Maybe then I'll actually take Ryan to these parks :)
