This year for me has been more than anything, family. Starting the year with the gift of Max. Brothers and sisters adding to our family and becoming our closest friends. The boys finding friendships in cousins and everyone together more than ever before. And for the first time I completely felt like I was exactly where I wanted to be. I learned that there would be times that the house would be clean, and times it would not. Times where every night was home-cooked meals, and times where it was not. And the second I stopped trying to do it all, it all came together. I learned that being with my kids was a lot more fun if I was simply being with them, not trying to fill each moment with to do lists.
So my New Year's resolution is not a list but a reminder. To celebrate each day in its simplicity, each adventure in its entirety.
Here are our goals for 2010. With a little inspiration from Dr Seus...
* Get the daily chores done quickly and then play, play, and play some more. "If you never did, you should. These things are fun and fun is good."
* Experience as much new as possible. And when thats not possible, appreciate the simple things. "Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting... so be on your way."
* Be happy for each moment. "Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened."
I am thankful to start this year with days, weeks, seconds to fill. The best is yet to come.
